Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. I hope you find it welcoming and informative. St Agnes is situated in the shadow of Kaggur Mabul (Mt Gravatt), the land of the Echidna. This connection with the traditional custodians of the land is reflected in our school prayer. The school was established in 1962 by the generosity and perseverance of St Agnes parishioners and their parish priest Fr John Rosenskjar. The Sisters of St Joseph, in the spirit of St Mary MacKillop of the Cross staffed the school until the early 1990s. Today St Agnes belongs to the community of schools administered by Brisbane Catholic Education. We also belong to the wider Holland Park/Mt Gravatt parish community with Rev Joson Antony MCBS as Parish Priest.
Our vision is to make the dream (kingdom) of Jesus present in our daily activities through our learning and relationships. This is captured in our vision: to let our light shine through lifelong learning, life enhancing relationship s and life giving spirituality. We live this through the St Agnes Way: awareness, respect, safety, cooperation and active learning. These values are tangibly demonstrated in the activities and interactions daily.
We believe in the value of a high quality education for every child through creating a safe, welcoming and educationally purposeful environment. Our goal is to empower every child to shape and enrich our changing world by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this through developing engaging, challenging and supported learning experiences offering a diverse curriculum and extra curricula activities.
Parents, carers and grandparents are involved in school life on a daily basis and are an essential part of the learning journey of each child. Parents and carers have the opportunity to be involved in a myriad of ways. We value their partnership.
We certainly look forward to the joy and challenges of teaching in the current context. Together we can make a difference. In the words of Mary Mackillop: ‘May we listen to the whisperings of God in our own heart”.
I encourage you to take some time to explore our website, and I invite you to contact us if you have any further inquiries or would like a principal tour.
