St Agnes, Mt Gravatt as one of the 150 schools of the Brisbane Archdiocese, is bound to improving educational outcomes for all our students, in that they will live fulfilling productive and responsible lives through letting their light shine. This philosophy connects with the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals (2009). These goals for Australian schools are to promote equity and excellence for all young Australians to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens.
St Agnes is situated in the shadow of Kaggur Mabul (Mt Gravatt), the land of the Echidna. This connection with the traditional custodians of the land is reflected in our school prayer. The school was established in 1962 by the generosity and perseverance of St Agnes parishioners and their parish priest Fr John Rosenskjar. The Sisters of St Joseph, in the spirit of St Mary MacKillop of the Cross staffed the school until the early 1990s. Today St Agnes belongs to the community of schools administered by Brisbane Catholic Education. We also belong to the wider Holland Park/Mt Gravatt parish community with Rev Josen Antony MCBS as Parish Priest.
